Brian Harfe
Associate Provost
Dr. Brian Harfe earned a BS degree from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, followed by a Ph.D. in developmental biology from The Johns Hopkins University. After completing his Ph.D., he held postdoctoral positions at Emory University and Harvard Medical School. As Associate Provost he oversees all units within the division of Teaching and Technology. He is a tenured full Professor in the UF College of Medicine. He continues to run 14 international exchange programs and a study abroad program while teaching more than 500 students each semester. He has published >100 papers in developmental biology, which have been cited >21,000 times (h-index 70). Private and public agencies have funded his research, and he has won numerous awards for undergraduate and medical student teaching.
Teaching and Technology Leadership
The directors within the Office of Teaching and Technology at the University of Florida lead diverse units dedicated to advancing online education, operational efficiency, and student support. Their collective work supports a seamless student experience and positions UF as a national leader in online and lifelong learning.
